Youth’s vision for a better future of Serbia: Open competition for the seventh generation of the Beacon of Knowledge

The Lighthouse of Knowledge is a traditional competition of high school students from 12 local communities in Serbia , which is organized by the Lighthouse of Knowledge and the Association for the Affirmation of Culture. The goal is simple but powerful: to design and develop projects that will contribute to improving the quality of everyday life in those communities.

The Beacon of Knowledge brings together 48 high school students, forming teams of four third- and fourth-year high school students. These future young leaders will work under the careful guidance of mentors and coordinators from youth organizations, with a focus on developing project ideas that will have a positive impact on their communities.

The topics that the teams will work on this year are diverse and crucial for the future of our society: from information technologies, environmental protection, public health, to social responsibility and activism.

In addition to local initiatives, high school students will have the opportunity to exchange experiences at a seminar scheduled by 22. to 24. September in Kragujevac, and their final projects will be presented at the final event from 1. to 3. December in Baja Bašta.

This year, all talented third- and fourth-year high school students whose interests are focused on the local community, writing projects and activism from the following cities have the right to participate in the competition: Bajina Bašta, Belgrade, Kragujevac, Čačak, Zaječar, Leskovac, Šabac, Bela Crkva, Ćuprija , Niš, Vršac and Vranje.

The project is realized in the organization of the Lighthouse of Knowledge and the Association for the Affirmation of Culture, thanks to the support of the Ministry of Tourism and Youth of the Republic of Serbia. The contest for participants is open until September 10 at 11:59 p.m.
