The three best ideas of high school students in Serbia have been selected

The final ceremony of the “Lighthouse of Knowledge” project, which is traditionally held for the fifth time in a row, was successfully realized after three months of project implementation.


An expert jury composed of representatives of Erste Bank, Delta Holding, Delhaize Serbia selected the winning project called “Yummy” team from Sabac.


Among the eight teams of high school students from all over Serbia, who competed with ideas they want to improve the environment they come from, the winner was the project of the team from Sabac, which aims to promote and inform young people about the importance of healthy eating.


In order for the project of these young people to come to life in the future, Erste Bank provided a prize in the amount of 250,000 dinars for its realization.


The second-placed team comes from Čačak and designed the project “Florin kutak” which aims to develop environmental awareness among young people by equipping eco-classrooms, creative workshops and planting trees. The third place went to high school students from Vrsac with the project “Culture under the hill”, within which they plan to hold cultural and educational programs for young people from Vrsac in order to promote the culture of their city.


Thanks to the bookstores “Booka” and “Službeni glasnik”, awards for the second and third place team were made possible. In addition to public presentations aimed at promoting the projects of the best teams at the local level, participants received personalized European Youth Cards.


The solemn ceremony was also attended by Snezana Zugic, acting Assistant Minister of Youth and Sports, who on that occasion wished good luck to all finalists and expressed great satisfaction that the Ministry of Youth and Sports supported the Lighthouse of Knowledge, emphasizing the importance of this project for youth activism.


Every year, the Lighthouse of Knowledge gathers 60 high school students from 15 cities in Serbia and is designed so that participants, with the professional help of mentors, work in teams to design and prepare projects on one of five topics (ecology, public health, tourism, culture and social responsibility). with the aim of improving the communities in which they live, but also personal professional development. All they need is to notice some good change that they would like to realize in their place, and apply for the competition.


The project is implemented with the financial support of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Erste Bank in Serbia and dm drogerie markt Serbia. The cities that participated this year are: Belgrade, Valjevo, Vranje, Vrsac, Krusevac, Leskovac, Novi Sad, Pirot, Uzice, Sabac, Sremska Mitrovica, Zrenjanin, Zajecar, Cacak and Novi Pazar.
